At Hooves of Promise, we are more than just a sanctuary—we’re a lifeline for horses in desperate need. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome horses who have been neglected, abused, or are at risk of slaughter. We provide these incredible animals with the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve.
Our work includes:
Rescue Operations: We save horses from auctions, kill pens, and dire situations, ensuring their safety and dignity.
Rehabilitation: Each horse receives individualized care, including medical treatment, proper nutrition, and behavioral support, to regain their health and spirit.
Training and Rehoming: Once a horse is healthy and ready, we evaluate it’s individual level of training and experience. For those that may need a refresher, we provide a ‘tune-up’ to help them reconnect and ease their transition into being ridden again. These sessions focus on building confidence and reinforcing familiarity with handling and riding. For horses with little or no prior training, we start with foundational groundwork, focusing on trust-building, respect, and essential skills to prepare them for future training. Our ultimate goal is to ensure every horse is ready to thrive in their new home while matching adopters with a horse suited to their needs and abilities.
Community Engagement: We partner with local charities and youth groups, providing opportunities for education, hands-on experience, and involvement in equine care. Through volunteer programs, workshops and outreach efforts, we inspire the next generation to understand the importance of horse welfare while fostering a compassionate, engaged community.
We believe every horse has a story, and every story deserves a happy ending. With your support, we can continue to expand our impact and give countless horses a brighter future.
Sawyer
Sawyer is a 14 year old bay gelding. He had a hip injury when he was 10 that healed poorly. He is super sweet and an easy keeper but is pasture sound only. He leads, loads and is great for the farrier. He loves his cookies and will stand all day for grooming and love.
Cielo
Cielo is a 15 year old buckskin mare. She was diagnosed with ringbone at a 4 years old so she is pasture sound only. She leads, loads and good for the farrier. Easy to de-worm and vaccinate and is very friendly. She would love to be your bosom buddy and hear all about your day.
Davi
Davi is a 3 year old stud rescued from the slaughter truck last year. He has a mechanical lameness in his right hind, but he gets along great and has been doing well with his rehab exercises and has blossomed with proper nutritional care. He is still working on warming up to people and needs significant training and support.
